25th Silver Anniversary Celebration

Open House Silver Celebrations!

The Citrus County Library System is kicking off a Silver Celebration to commemorate 25 years of reading, learning, and exploring. Each library branch will host a special open house event beginning November 9 and running through December 7. There will be educational, informational and cultural classes and activities throughout the day at each branch.

 


silver-logosThere will be something for all ages including live music, historical storytelling, arts and crafts, and local authors. Refreshments will be served and many of the library’s community partners will be on hand to share information about their services.

Central Ridge Branch, Beverly Hills

10:00-4:00 pm

Have fun and learn with us.   Enjoy live music from the local Dolcimer Group and a Classic String Trio. From 11am-12pm, hear local author Lakisha Spletzer read from several of her popular books.

At 12pm learn and laugh with friends Dessie Smith Prescott, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and Ernest Hemingway, as you meet them “in person” through historical storytelling.

Throughout the day you can visit with many of our partner organization's information tables including the Health Department, Citrus County Extension Office, Veterans Services, and Parks & Recreation.

Read to Me Stories in the Youth Room: 25 minutes past every hour. Children can join us in the youth room for some extra special celebration stories!

We’re 25…Win a Prize! 25 minutes before every hour: Stop by the Friends of the Library table to receive a free raffle ticket to win a free book selection!

Silver, Sparkle and Shine Craft Station: Make and take a special silver celebration creation.

Then and Now: Stoll down memory lane with us throughout the day!

 

Lakes Region Branch, Inverness

Have fun and learn with us.  Kids of all ages welcome. At 12pm learn and laugh with friends Dessie Smith Prescott, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and Ernest Hemingway, as you meet them “in person” through historical storytelling.

From 10am-2pm local author Lakisha Spletzer will be available to answer questiosn about her popular books. At 2pm come see Tucker, the Paws To Read dog. And thoughout the day visit with our partner orgnaizations including the Old Courthouse HIstorical Museum, Rails-to-Trails, the Health Department, Citrus County Extension Office Master Gardener, and Sumter Electric.

Citrus County Fire Services will also be on site with their Safety House and a Fire Truck. Also a representative from the Sheriff's Office will be on hand to answer questions.


Coastal Region Branch, Crystal River

Join us all day long for special events including: Tai Chi, Native American music, storytelling, beading, and more. Learn to make silver aluminum foil jewelry. Kids can take home a balloon animal pet.

Homosassa Public Library

10:00-5:00 pm

This open house will also include a special celebration marking the fifth birthday of the Homosassa Public Library’s new facility. Have fun and learn with us, as you participate in karaoke, specialized computer classes, and handmade cardmaking. See live demonstrations in quilting, knitting, crocheting, beading, and woodcarving. Clowns will facepaint and make balloon animals.

At 12pm learn and laugh with friends Dessie Smith Prescott, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and Ernest Hemingway, as you meet them “in person” through historical storytelling.

Official Happy Birthday song and cake cutting will be at 3:00 p.m.
