This is a very fun and artistic book. The author for everyday of one year created a skull piece using different mediums. He utilized everything from cotton balls, rice, Vinyl records, peanut shells, acorns, petroleum jelly ,etc. to create unique one of a kind skulls. This book is a photo collection of his year of the skulls. It will make you want to try to create using out of the ordinary materials and to utilize recyclable materials. You may not want your subject matter to be skulls but it gets your creative juices flowing.

Zora Neale Hurston’s most famous novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” is a dramatic tale of local color. The setting is in southern Florida during the early 1900’s. It portrays the struggle of an African American woman during a time in which a woman of any race had little to no rights. Hurston vividly depicts the hardships of romance, society, and nature. Check this book out if you are interested in Florida History, depictions of race, or natural disaster dramas.

Things I overheard while talking to myself : CD [sound recording]

I particularly enjoyed listening to Alan Alda reading his audio book. The varied speeches that Alan had conducted over the years whether it was a eulogy, commencement speech or another type of talk I found all very thought provoking. His searching for answers to questions that sometimes leads to more questioning. If you enjoy thinking outside the box as a result of listening closely to a speech and learning something along the way-then you will enjoy this book!

Tigers in red weather : a novel

It has everything: murder, secrets, betrayal, regret, longing and lust. It is a great read about hot summer nights, gin drunk from jelly jars, and sneaking around in the shadows.

Winter of the world
Author: Follett, Ken

An entertaining book that re-taught me the things that learned in school. It is amazing how differently I look at things as an adult. Follett follows the bestselling Fall of Giants (2010) with the eagerly anticipated second volume of his ambitious Century Trilogy. Picking up the disparate plot strands approximately 10 years later, he introduces the next generation of the five original families American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh, respectively as it stands poised on the brink of another international catastrophe.

World War Z : an oral history of the zombie war
Author: Brooks, Max
Recommended by: Ben Kampschroer
World War Z recounts the events surrounding the fictional zombie war from the perspective of those that survived. The war is chronicled in the form of interviews with important survivors, giving the reader a glimpse of how the events unfurled differently around the world. Each interview is unique, and the characters really give you an idea of what it would be like to have lived during this crisis. Characters are made even more realistic by their use of trade terms and extensive knowledge of their fields in the interviews. Even though the subject matter deals with the ridiculous idea of zombies taking over the world, the story is presented in a serious and believable way that is more of an examination of how humans react to disasters than your typical zombie shoot'em up.

Year of wonders : a novel of the plague
Author: Brooks, Geraldine

Year of Wonders is a fabulously written account of life in an English village during the 1666 outbreak of the Black Plague. The vivid period language and imagery are spot-on, and coupling that with Brooks' fascinating characters makes for a novel you can not put down. It truly does the job of transporting the reader into that time, for better and for worse.
