Old Acquaintance Be Forgot…

I Remember Nothing

I Remember Nothing
by Norah Ephron

In I Remember Nothing writer, director, and humorist Nora Ephron takes another look at growing old(er). If you are a fan of Ephron’s books, I Feel Bad About My Neck, and movies, When Harry Met Sally, you will want to read this again and again. You may read passages that sound familiar because the author does repeat some of the stories and essays that were in previous publications but they are just as funny and thought provoking the second time around. If you haven’t read Nora Ephron in the past you are in for a real treat.

These are small snippets of Nora Ephron’s take on life, youth, age, and everything in between. Her essays on the ‘D’ word (divorce) and the ‘O’ word (old) will make you think even as you smile. When she fails to recognize her sister at the mall where they were meeting for lunch I laughed out loud with empathy because I know that bemused feeling.

My life may never be made into a movie and I may never be portrayed by a superstar like Meryl Streep but I can identify with so much that Ms. Ephron describes. I’ve forgotten the birthdays of my children (I was there but the details are fuzzy). I hem and haw when introducing my oldest and dearest friends (is it John, Paul, Ringo?!). This book helps you to keep your sense of humor even as you are losing your mind.

If you like I Remember Nothing also check out her sister Delia Ephron’s books and best-selling mystery writer Lisa Scottoline’s non-fiction title Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog.
