Movies in the Park: December 10, 2016

It’s time again for another of Citrus County Parks & Recreations Movie in the Park Events.secret-life-pets

This months movie will be "The Secret Life of Pets" Rated PG

Join us for a FREE movie under the stars. Bring your family, picnic basket and blanket to this fun movie night. We will supply the (FREE) popcorn, you make the memories. Join us at a park near you! (Folding chairs should be no more than six inches off the ground so they don't block others' view.)

Movies begin at dark.

November: Free Cat & Dog Adoptions plus the $10.00 license fee

home-b4-holidaysWe had great success during November with our all adoptable cats and dogs to find new forever homes for the low cost of the county's $10.00 license fee. This ends on November 30th, but stay tuned for some December specials at the shelter.

Moon Over the Mounds Series

 

fl-state-parks-logoSeven events will offer visitors an opportunity to participate in guided evening walks 

The Friends of the Crystal River Preserve State Parks, Inc., in partnership with the Florida Park Service, Florida Public Archaeology Network and Gulf Archaeology Research Institute will kick off the fall season with the popular Moon over the Mounds guided evening walking tours.

fl-public-archaeology-network-logoThis event is a torch lit tour of the Crystal River site led by professional interpretive guides though the moonlit Crystal River Archeological State Park. The Crystal River archaeological site is a world-famous pre-Columbian ceremonial center on Florida’s west coast. Travel back in time to experience the park under the full moon to learn what life was like living on the Crystal River from 500 BC to AD 1000.

gulf-archaeology-research-iThe Moon over the Mounds tours will begin at the Park Museum building at 8:00 p.m. and end at approximately 10:00 p.m... Suggested donations of $5.00 per person will be applied to sustaining future interpretive programming in the park.

The park is located at 3400 N. Museum Pointe; northwest of the Crystal River Mall. Drive North on U.S. 19, turn left onto State Park Street, and then left onto Museum Pointe.
