SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders)

shineIf you aren't familiar with Medicare or the other available resources, or if you just want to brush up on what you already know, SHINE from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs can help. The presentation provides information and resources on how to make informed choices when it comes to Medicare eligibility, supplemental insurance,  advantage plans, prescription drug coverage and savings programs. All SHINE programs are free and unbiased; counseling is always confidential.

Moon Over the Mounds Series

Seven events will offer visitors an opportunity to participate in guided evening walks

The Friends of the Crystal River Preserve State Parks, Inc., in partnership with the Florida Park Service, Florida Public Archaeology Network and Gulf Archaeology Research Institute will kick off the fall season with the popular Moon over the Mounds guided evening walking tours.

fl-public-archaeology-network-logoThis event is a torch lit tour of the Crystal River site led by professional interpretive guides though the moonlit Crystal River Archeological State Park. The Crystal River archaeological site is a world-famous pre-Columbian ceremonial center on Florida’s west coast. Travel back in time to experience the park under the full moon to learn what life was like living on the Crystal River from 500 BC to AD 1000.

gulf-archaeology-research-iThe Moon over the Mounds tours will begin at the Park Museum building at 8:00 p.m. and end at approximately 10:00 p.m... Suggested donations of $5.00 per person will be applied to sustaining future interpretive programming in the park.

The park is located at 3400 N. Museum Pointe; northwest of the Crystal River Mall. Drive North on U.S. 19, turn left onto State Park Street, and then left onto Museum Pointe.

P.L.A.Y. (Preparing Little Athletes Youth Program Ages 3-5)

parks-playCitrus County Parks & Recreation’s P.L.A.Y. Program
The P.L.A.Y. program (Preparing Little Athletes Youth) is a comprehensive motor skills development program that will prepare you and your child for the world of organized sports.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR:

PLAY Basketball (Register Now)
PLAY Cheerleading
PLAY Kickball (Register Now)
PLAY Flag Football (Register Now)
PLAY Soccer 

The P.L.A.Y Progams are designed for children ages 3-5, each child will receive a team t-shirt and age appropriate sports equipment. Each program runs for six weeks, one night a week for one hour. The cost is $45.00 per child, sign your child up for more than one sport in the same session and save $10.00. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
