Get a Library Card

lib-card-webLibrary card membership gives you access to books, ebooks, DVDs, CDs, and lots more. Library cards are available to anyone who lives, works, or owns property in Citrus County. Everyone, from adults to kids, is encouraged to get a library card--the smartest card in your wallet.

To get a card

Stop in at any of our libraries and we'll sign you up for a card right away. The process takes less than ten minutes--and in return, a world of learning and knowledge opens for you!

To join the library and get a card, show us:
  • A photo ID such as a driver's license or military ID
  • Proof of your current Citrus County address, such as your driver's license, utility bill, rental agreement, or other piece of official mail with your address
or
  • Proof of employment, whether it's a pay stub or official document
Non-residents may purchase a three year library card for $10.00. Children under the age of 16 may obtain a library card with a parent or guardian signature verifying identity and residency. Lost card replacements cost $1.00.

About your card

Our library card memberships are issued for a period of 3 years, and are honored in all five Citrus County Library System branches. A library card is required for electronic transactions such as downloadable ebooks & audiobooks or certain databases.

Loan periods: 14 days for books, audio materials like cassettes or CDs, and video materials like DVDs. 21 days for interlibrary loans, which are items borrowed from partner libraries outside the Citrus County Library System.

Materials on loan to another borrower may be placed on request through the library catalog. Materials may be requested from any of the Citrus County Library System branches through the library catalog and delivered to the branch location of choice. Materials not owned by the Citrus County Library System may be attainable through Interlibrary Loan. Ask your reference librarian for more information.
